DIY Marble Side Table

Writer's picture: thriftinganddiythriftinganddiy

Hey everyone!

So I really wanted to "upgrade" the look of my room this summer getting ready for the new year and the number one thing I wanted was a new nightstand. I really liked all the marble topped nightstands I was seeing but I did NOT like the price tag, so I decided to find a cost effective way to get the same look! Here is what I did:

First, I found a white night stand at Five Below for $5!

After I got the table I decided I wanted to use Marble contact paper to give it the white marble look that is so popular right now. The great thing about contact paper is there are so many different styles that would look good on a night stand, so you can just choose whatever print you want and transform your nightstand or table.

Here are the other supplies I used for this project:

-Marble Contact Paper- I got mine at Walmart for $7! See it here!

-X-Acto Knife- I also got this at Walmart for $3, you can look at it here

-Credit card, or other plastic card to spread the paper on the table

-And also a mat or cutting board to cut on, if you don't have a crafting pad any large cutting board will work

Steps:

1) Unroll the contact paper marble side down and cut a rough cycle slightly bigger than the size of the table.

2) Now, peel off a corner of the paper and begin sticking it to the table. The best way to do this is move slowly and every couple inches use the credit card to smooth it out so there are no bubbles.

3) Once the piece of contact paper is covering the entire top of the table flip it upside down on the cutting mat and use the X-Acto knife to cut it right along the edges of the table.

4) Once you are down with the top part of the table cut a strip that is 2 inches wide and the length of the circumference of the table. This piece will be used to cover the sides of the table.

5) Begin sticking it to the sides the same way as the top moving slowly and using the card to flatten out problems. Make sure to have the extra paper on the bottom.

6) Now you can use the X-Acto knife to trim the extra on the sides.

7) Lastly, attach the legs and your new side table is complete!

And here is my finished project! I added a picture frame I got at the dollar store to complete the look!

Final Cost:

Table: $5

Contact Paper: $1 worth of the roll used

Picture frame: $1

Total project cost: $7!
